Before forming Collcutt Associates we developed a list of topics that we thought would be the greatest concerns to business and where we could add most value.

Three of those themes are given below, and for each we will publish our thoughts in the weeks ahead.

- Importance of a plan in a crisis. Even the best plans and strategies will have been affected by recent events. Is that plan still right in the current climate and do management and employees understand the day to day priorities? We believe that plans and priorities need to be amended as circumstances change and stakeholders given clarity and honesty about the management of uncertainty. This will often necessitate a more agile planning approach than previously used.

- Product, service & client profitability. Businesses can misunderstand the true profitability of different services, products and clients. This often results from a poor understanding of cost drivers and aggressive pricing decisions. Recent events may have exasperated this.

- External changes. Major external events like brexit, covid, digitisation and climate change are set to present significant threats and opportunities to most businesses. Thoughts and plans are needed now on how to respond.
